Memoirs of a Geisha "Mamehiro" (豆 弘) dances "Kurokami" (黒 髪) - black hair


During the course of Maiko and learn ultimately Geisha the girls / women of different dances that they perform it at various festivals and banquets.

I Here is a small list of different dances that I know put together. At various dances I will discuss in more detail in separate entries.


Among the dances:


Kadomatsu - one of the first dances, teach the young girls. Kadomatsu is an arrangement of pine branches, which is the New Year period attached to homes or placed before it.

Shinobu Uri - fern (fern) sell

Gion Kouta (祇 园 小 呗) - the ballad of / on Gion

Kurokami (黒 髪) - black hair

Yozakura (夜 桜) - Kürschblüten night

Sakuramiyotote - cherry blossom viewing

Torioi (鳥追い) - the story of a wandering shamisen player. Actually a job in the Edo period in which shamisen-playing women from door to door and subjected recited songs that were originally meant to scare birds from fields. Tori means bird and Torioi scare.

Nanoha - the story of a butterfly and a flowering cabbage

Akebono (あけぼの / 曙) - Dawn

Shakkyou - the story of a lioness and her cubs

Shisha - the story of a contest between four companions of the emperor, who drive in four ox wagons

Nagare (流れ) - flow
